The Westboro Baptist Church – those loons from Kansas

In a move that should surprise no one, the Westboro Baptist Church has announced they will be picketing the funeral of the victims of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. I use the word church in the absolute loosest possible fashion since the WBC has been disavowed by every level of the organized baptist faith.

For those who don’t know who these people are, count yourself lucky. The WBC is a group of vile individuals who believe it is theirreligious duty to tell the world how awful we are as a society because we accept the gay culture, or something crazy like that. They have made a name for themselves by picketing the funerals of fallen soldiers and other funerals that garner media attention.

If you are a little lost, don’t be. Nothing these wretches say have any grounding in reality. I also don’t believe they truly care about what they, in so much as they will say whatever is the most inflammatory to breed attention.

If it came out that the whole country had a strong emotional response to hostess snack cakes, I’m sure they would be be carrying signs saying “God hates Twinkies” and “Thank God for spoiled Ho-Hos”. I’m sure they would find plenty of scripture talking about how god will smite us for our sick obsession with sugary cream filled sweets.

The reality is what they say now is no crazier then if they were actually decrying Twinkies, and should be looked at with the same level of lunacy.

These are the kinds of people that are indoctrinated from youth to believe the bile that spews from their parents mouth. The kind of people that burnt “witches” in Salem. Luckily they are about 200 years behind their time. As of 2011 the “church” claimed to have roughly 40 members. In perspective the LARP in Pennsylvania facebook page has 3 times as many members. Of those 40 members the vast majority is related.

The Westboro vultures will go away eventually. The best thing we can do is not give them attention and allow inbreeding to run its course.
